Larry Jervis, Judd Edeburn, Warren Boyette, Susan Moore, Frederick Cubbage, Daniel Richter, and William Gardner
North Carolina is participating as one of several selected states in performing a project to assess joint Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) certification. The project is being conducted through the Southern Center for Sustainable Forests (SCSF), on forest lands managed by the cooperating institutions of the North Carolina Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forest Resources, Duke University, and North Carolina State University. The cooperating partners are assessing the merits and practicality of obtaining certification for southern forests and the training needed for foresters to be qualified certifiers or sustainable forest management (SFM) auditors.
